Need a big adventure? Lev Stryker is your guy. Co-owner of Cog Wild, Lev’s been riding challenging trails since he was 15 years old. He’s not only a skilled, strong rider, but also knows Oregon trails inside and out and loves taking guests to some amazing places on a mountain bike.

Lev’s Choice is for the adventurous rider. This means you are looking for long days in the saddle that include ripping fun descents, challenging technical sections and some grinding climbs. This tour can take place in one of the many great riding areas such as Oakridge, McKenzie River, North Umpqua, Ochoco Mountains, Mt. Hood, the elusive Fremont National Forest, or the Deschutes National Forest just outside of Bend.

Rides can vary and include shuttles, point-to-point rides or straight up old-fashioned, epic loops. One thing is for sure—you will earn your post ride beer and fill of delicious food with each day! Cog Wild will choose great campsites and provide all the meals, complete with Deschutes Brewery beer. Afternoon and evening activities might include campfire lounging, swimming holes, hot springs and stargazing.

How it works: Book your spot now. Exact location and routes for this tour are chosen 3-4 weeks in advance, so we can fully understand the guests desires and match them up with the best trail conditions at that time.

Riding Distance

75 – 100 miles over the three-day vacation. Expect at least 25 miles per day.

Route Location

Exact location and routes for this tour are chosen 3-4 weeks in advance, so we can fully understand our guests desires and match them up with the best trail conditions at that time.

Elevation

TBD, depending on routes chosen. Expect adequate climbing and descending for each day.

Level

High intermediate to advanced riders only. This tour is for mountain bikers that ride a few times a week, race regularly or know that they can handle three days of expert level riding.

Terrain & Trails

A full array of Lev’s favorite cross country trails, including steep climbs, fast descents, roots, rocks, logs, drops, switchbacks and stream crossings. Some of the routes may be in “undiscovered” areas with very few other riders, but perhaps wildlife!

Recommended Clothing & Gear

Prepare for three full days of riding, so bring adequate clothing, including gloves and layers for a variety of weather. Hydration packs are necessary for carrying food and water. Helmets are required for all rides. We are also camping, so appropriate camp attire will include long pants, sturdy shoes and insulating layers for cool nights and mornings.

Day One

Riders meet at 9am at Cog Wild and head to camp, or meet the group at camp (we’ll give you details before the tour.) After a quick orientation, we’ll head out to ride. Expect to spend the rest of the day on the trail shredding with Lev. We’ll enjoy our evening around the campfire with a Deschutes Brewery or Humm Kombucha in hand. Your Cog Wild guides will prepare a fresh, hearty dinner while you get to re-live the day’s ride.

Mileage: 25+ miles

Day Two

After a delicious breakfast cooked by your guides, it’s time to ride! We might shuttle or ride direct from camp, depending on where we are camping. We’ll spend another full day on the trails and we’ll have lots of snacks and lunch on the ride. The second evening includes another amazing meal prepared by your guides. Afternoon and evening activities may include swimming holes, star gazing, night riding or soaking in hot springs.

Mileage: 30+ miles

Day Three

The icing on the cake—another amazing ride! Today’s tour will end late in the afternoon after another epic day in singletrack heaven, riding until you can no longer turn those pedals. Everyone can shuttle back to Bend with the Cog Wild crew, or if you have your own vehicle, head home direct from the trailhead. Say goodbye to Lev and your new friends and make your plans for next time!
