Here is how our shuttles work: ride to or park at Cog Wild (located at LOGE Camp, just west of Bend). Jump on the shuttle, which travels west on the Cascade Lakes Highway to Wanoga, Swampy or Dutchman Trailheads. From your trailhead, choose a route for a singletrack adventure back to our location. All shuttles are non-guided. Shuttle riders need to be self sufficient: bring a map and have a route in mind, carry a first aid kit since there is no bike patrol out there. Carry enough food, water and clothing to support your time in the woods.
Bend Trails and Trail Forks are great sites for researching which trail to ride for your group’s skill level and goals for the day. Maps are available to purchase at Cog Wild. Shuttles are currently running to Wanoga and Swampy. The trails out of Dutchman are still under snow & mosquitos are swarming. We’ll start shuttles up to Dutchman in mid July.
HEAT WAVE SPECIAL
Be cool, ride early.
7:45 am shuttles are now on the schedule and the 2 PM shuttle has been removed due to heat through July, 2021. Afternoon shuttles will be added back to the schedule when the weather cools off.
2021 Regular Schedule:
7:45 am 9 am 10:30am 12 pm 2 pm
Bend Shuttle Drop Locations
Our first regular stop accesses the Wanoga Pump Track, Funner, Tiddlywinks, Tyler’s Traverse and much more. While the terrain is generally downhill and most obstacles have go-arounds, these blue and black trails can be challenging for new or younger riders.
Average ride back to Cog Wild is 12 – 18 miles.
Mid-elevation Swampy Lakes Trailhead is a great place for longer rides to access many trails that connect to the Swampy Lakes Loop like Vista Butte, Swede Ridge, South Fork and Upper & Lower Whoops. Find information about the 2021 mid week logging closures around Whoops at the Deschutes Collaborative Forest Project.
Average ride back to Cog Wild is 15 – 20 miles.
Once the higher elevation trails are free from snow (late June to mid-July), our final stop is Dutchman Flat, across the highway from Mt. Bachelor Ski Area / Bike Park. Use Flagline Access to ride backcountry trails like Metolius-Windigo, and Middle Flagline, which opens on August 15 to protect elk calving grounds.
Average ride back to Cog Wild is 25 – 40 miles.
Available upon request, this shuttle drops riders at Paulina Peak for an adventurous ride back to Bend.
McKenzie River Trail
Available upon request, this is a shuttle from Bend to McKenzie River Trail and back for a full day of riding.
