Oregon Timber Trail & Map

The Oregon Timber Trail

… is the kind of adventure you want to embark on if blood, sweat, and tears are your kind of thing.

Over 660 miles long, and with over 69,000 feet of elevation gain, this trail is not for the faint of heart. The OTT runs south to north – starting just beyond the northern border of California and ending at the mighty Columbia River. It is split into 4 tiers and 10 segments. One can tackle one grueling section after another, or split the adventure across years of discovery.

The Oregon Timber Trail is a bike packing route, so you should plan to be self-sufficient. However, there are multiple sections that traverse territory where support can be offered. The Willamette and Deschutes segments are the perfect starting destinations for those who just want a taste without committing to the full meal.

Because the trail crosses the entire state of Oregon, you will experience all our gorgeous state has to offer: from alpine lakes to desert hot springs, thick forests, majestic peaks, forest roads, and rippin’ single track. It is the ultimate smorgasbord of mountain biking, so eat your heart out! The Oregon Timber Trail website is a fantastic resource that will give you all the nitty gritty you need to know before tackling the trail. The site provides detailed maps with important information like camping areas and water resources.

Want a first-hand account of the Oregon Timber Trail Experience? Fitz Cahall from the Dirtbag Diaries rode every painstaking mile and recorded his account for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
