Travel insurance that covers trip cancellation as well as trip interruption is highly recommended.

The deposits made at booking are non-refundable except in the event that we have not met our minimum guest count and we can’t run the tour. In this case we will be sure to let you know that we are not running the trip and that we are refunding your deposit and are happy to offer you other suggestions in place of your original trip plans.
Riding Distance
85-140 miles over the 5 day tour
Elevation
3,200-12,500 feet
Rider Level
Strong intermediate to advanced. Riders should be physically fit and have various experience and skill with sustained climbs, steep descents and technical features.
Terrain & Trails
Oakridge and North Umpqua trails are narrow, fast, slow, smooth, rocky, rooty, steep and beautiful. You’ll also sample a wide variety of terrain – granddaddy old-growth trees, clear cuts, giant ferns, natural meadows, cold creek crossings, log bridges, exposure and rock outcroppings.
Recommended Clothing & Gear
Prepare for three full days of riding, so bring adequate clothing, including gloves and layers for a variety of weather. Hydration packs are necessary for carrying food and water. Helmets are required for all rides. We are also camping, so appropriate camp attire will include long pants, camp shoes and insulating layers for cool nights and mornings. Bring a swimsuit for dipping in the river or hot springs!
*There is poison oak on the sides of some of the trails we ride on this tour. Bring precautionary measures or extra-clothing if you are sensitive to poison oak.
Day 0
After meeting your guides in Bend, you will load up into the van and head south to the Umpqua River region with a pit stop along the way for dinner. After checking into the Steamboat Inn, we will settle in for the night. A good night’s rest will be needed for the next day of trails!
Day 1
The North Umpqua Trail is a 79-mile long trail, so we have lots of options for our fist day of riding, all of which include more awesome singletrack and scenery. After a hearty breakfast prepared by the guides, we will hit the trail! t Your guides will cook another dinner feast while you relax and enjoy cold beer. We may hit some hot springs that evening before heading back for dinner and some much needed shut-eye.
Mileage: varies, around 20
Day 2
Today includes the famous “Dread and Terror” section. In 1908, two rangers on horseback named a four-mile ridgeline south of the river as “Dread and Terror” in reference to the disagreeable possibility of fighting a forest fire in this densely vegetated land. Not to worry, it is an amazing section of trail! After the ride, we will drive over to Oakridge and settle in for the night.
Mileage: 19-26
Day 3
Our first ride in Oakridge will be on the beloved Alpine Trail, ending at the red covered bridge in Westfir. Alpine Trail includes sections such as Chrome Toilet, Jedi Forest, and Windy Pass and includes steep climbs, forested traverses, tight switchbacks, wildflower meadows and brake searing descents that will have you grinning. We’ll hit the local brewpub, Brewers Union Local 180, to rub shoulders with the local trail builders and enjoy and English style ale, then back at camp for a good nights sleep under the stars.
Mileage: 19-28
Day 4
Depending on the group, we can select from a variety of rides, from a technical river trail to a high alpine loop that includes two significant peaks. We’ll finish the day by jumping into the river to cool off and refresh ourselves. We’ll wrap up our tour that afternoon, then head back to Bend by evening.
Mileage: 19-28
