Riding Distance
6 – 12 miles, depending on rider level, weather and trail conditions. We customize this route for you and your family.
Elevation
Varies, but expect mostly flat to gradual uphills and downhills.
Rider Level
Beginner to intermediate. This can be an introductory ride for new riders or a skill-building ride for beginner to intermediate riders.
Terrain & Trails
Smooth and flowing single track and double track trails that wind through Ponderosa pine forests. We will often shuttle to a higher elevation to begin the ride, so much of it is a gradual downhill.
Recommended Clothing & Gear
Exercise clothes, such as comfortable shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes are great, as well as a long sleeve sweatshirt or lightweight jacket. Bring a camera and your guide can carry it for you and take photos. Cog Wild provides each rider with a water bottle that they can keep after the ride. Hydration packs are recommended for carrying drinking water or extra clothing. Helmets are required on all rides. Cog Wild can provide helmets if needed.
Needed Information
During the reservation process you will need to share the information below for each rider:
- Height and weight for the bike rental.
- Ages of children or those over 60.
- Skill level of each rider: beginner, intermediate or advanced and any additional details you would like to share.
- Any dietary or medical restrictions.
I am a beginner, intermediate, advanced rider – is this tour too difficult/easy for me?
The Family Mountain Bike Tour is designed for beginner and intermediate riders. The goal is for a family to play outside together. Parents with more older, more experienced kids may want to sign up for a Singletrack Sampler to push their limits.
What should we expect to wear and bring?
Shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes are perfect. Riding gloves are recommended. Your normal exercise clothes can work too. Bring your camera, your guide can carry it for you. If anyone has a hydration pack, we do recommend bringing it, we are in the high desert and drinking water is important!
