Cog Wild is offering a weekend-long mtb skills camp for those riders looking to take their riding to the next level!

We will work on the fundamentals of mountain biking and move into more advanced maneuvers to match the unparalleled terrain of Oakridge throughout the course of the weekend. We will break into small groups based on prior experience to give you the focus you deserve and maximize your time on the trail. Conquer your fears by learning proper techniques from our PMBIA certified coaches and bond with your fellow mountain bikers as you take your new skills to the trail. As the local experts of the trail, we know where to take you to work on each skill set and the weekend will include in-depth clinics, trailhead shuttles, fun rides, and nourishing meals. Did we mention the crisp Deschutes Beer & Humm Kombucha you will enjoy at the end of each ride?

This weekend will give you the skills you need to reach your flow state on intermediate to advanced terrain. Elevate your riding with the proper techniques to conquer obstacles, climbing, steep descents, and getting your wheels off the ground. We promise you will leave camp feeling like a dirt hero and be begging to come back to Oakridge for more.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cog Wild follows the below policy for every multi-day tour guest:

    • All multi day tours will be charged a 50% deposit per person  at the time of booking, $100 of which will be non-refundable.
    • Cancellations 30-14 days prior to the tour: The participant will be required to pay 50% of trip price.
    • Cancellations within 14 days: No refund.

RIDING DISTANCE

16-50 miles over 3 days plus skills clinic time.

ELEVATION

Elevation can vary from between 3,400 feet to 7,000 feet. Expect climbing and descending on all the rides.

RIDER LEVEL

Intermediate to expert. Everyone can benefit from fundamental training to enhance their skill set. And with hundreds of miles to choose from, there is something for everyone. We will have coaches for each small group to customize the experience for varying ability levels.

TERRAIN & TRAILS

Trails range from smooth, fast and fun to steep, rocks, roots, logs and jumps. There will be some steep descending and some climbing each day. We’ll sample some or all of it. Terrain ranges from high alpine to old growth forests.

RECOMMENDED CLOTHING & GEAR

Prepare for two full days of riding, so bring adequate clothing and hydration pack. Oakridge is a casual logging town, calling for casual clothing for hanging out in town.

Friday:

Meet the group at 4pm for a pre-camp warm up ride! This will be a fun and casual ride for everyone to get an introduction to the trails and get to know one another. After the ride we will have an outdoor dinner, kick back some cold ones and get stoked for the days to come.

Saturday:

We will start the day by breaking up into groups and working on the foundations of mountain biking including body position, control and balance. We will do progressive activities to build skills and confidence before breaking for lunch. Following lunch we will take our skills to the trail and will have time to session sections of the trail that are pertinent to skill building as well as find our flow state on some fun terrain. We will finish the ride with some celebratory drinks to recap the lessons of the day. This evening you will have dinner on your own.

Sunday:

Today we will build on what you learned Saturday to further improve your riding. Expect drills, session-ing, and becoming an all around bad ass as you accomplish more on your mountain bike than you dreamed possible! We will work on progressing over more technical and steeper terrain and increasing our capacity for more advanced maneuvers. After breaking for lunch we will hit the trail to practice what you have learned over the weekend and work on the skills that are most important to you. Following the ride, we are confident you will be feeling like a dirt hero and ready to take to the trails with the toolkit you need to continue building yourself as a competent and skilled mountain biker!
