Skills & Rides
- Skills Sessions each day to focus on specific skills, drills and movements unique to cyclocross
- Group Rides will focus on building endurance and exploring the rough, rugged, steep terrain of the Columbia Gorge and Mt Hood National Forest.
- Example rides from previous years: Post Canyon loop and Lost Lake loop
- Rides can always be extended for distance but time is limited to about 4 hours so we can still do skills during the rest of the day
Requirements:
- Cyclocross bike with 35 – 45c tires (wider are better because the roads are very rough, 38c is a sweet spot for most riders on this terrain) — tubes are great because it’s easier to replace a tube than patch a tire on a long ride; if you have tubeless tires you must bring extra tubes and a tire plug if you have one.
- Good level of fitness and well-rested coming in. Must have experience with 3+ hour rides on hilly terrain. Ages 13 – 19.
- Positive attitude, desire to work hard, help each other, and learn from your peers & coaches.
- Must be able to carry with you: 2 extra tubes, multi-tool, 2 water bottles, snack, layers for mountain weather
Packing list:
- 2 extra tubes!
- Riding kit for 4 days
- CX bike, shoes, helmet / multi-tool, hand pump
- personal care items (we have a sun-shower and can go swimming)
- towel & bathing suit
- tent / sleeping pad / bag — due to covid it’s best to not share tents
- personal food items that you need for meals or rides optional if you have restrictions or specific things you need. Otherwise food is provided.
