Ellsworth Bicycles & Cog Wild's Pacific Northwest Singletrack Tour.

Join Cog Wild, Ellsworth and Deschutes Brewery for three fabulous days of singletrack riding the North Umpqua Trail. The NUT is one of IMBA's Epic Rides and a perfect trail to ride a Pacific Northest built Ellworth frame: The trail is technical, remote and designed for intermediate and advanced riders.
Camp two nights with Cog Wild, enjoying Deschutes Brewery beers around the campfire and three days on stunning singletrack. Enjoy the company of other Ellsworth riders, Ellsworth frame fabricators (as in, your bike frame) and the man himself, Tony Ellsworth!

"Thanks again for a great weekend! Great times, awesome rides, tasty food and best of all a super relaxing, sweet vibe and overall killer time".- Patrick, 2009 Ellsworth/Cog Wild tour rider

Tour Details
Friday, July 23rd:
Meet at Cog Wild's office in Bend at 8am OR at Toketee Campground, where we will camp for two nights (2 hours south of Bend) at 10:30am. Those leaving with us from Bend, we will swing by Webcyclery (the local Ellsworth dealer and great bike shop) for any last minute needs. As a group, we will be on the trail by 12 noon and will break up into smaller riding groups so everyone can have the trail to themselves and ride at their own level.
With the group not all riding together, the below tour description is correct, but the exact day you ride a section can vary.

Section One: Our journey starts above Lemolo Lake, at the top of the North Umpqua River Trail. Within the first mile we’ll check out the 135-foot Lemolo Falls. In the native Chinook language Lemolo means “wild” or “untamed”, a name that will seem apt as you continue through the rugged canyon. We’ll follow the North Umpqua River along steep forested slopes and over tight rocky stream crossings to our first destination at Toketee Lake. The trail includes rollers and banks for those looking for some bonus airtime. After the ride, relax at camp with a refreshing swim or soak in the natural hot springs while the guides prepare the feast.
Mileage: 22 miles

Section Two: Today we’ll ride from camp at Toketee Lake on some of the fastest, smoothest trail of the trip. At first, the trail contours up and away from the river to a viewpoint high up in the river canyon. Keep an eye out for soaring raptors such as eagles, osprey and peregrine falcons. From this high point, you will be rewarded with a long, continuous downhill back to the river. Our ride takes us through drier, though no less spectacular, forests as we lose elevation to end at the Horseshoe Bend Trail Head.
Mileage: 18 miles

Section Three: Today's ride takes us through some of the most spectacular country in Oregon. As we continue downriver, you may see some migrating Chinook salmon and Steelhead heading up river to spawn. We’ll climb more today than on the previous days, but the pay off will be descending smooth, flowing singletrack. By the end of the day you will have the satisfaction of completing one of the most famous rides in the country!
Mileage: 26 miles

Trail Notes:
Don't be discouraged if the mileage seems less than you would desire; this trail is technical,  has great climbing and points you want to stop to take in the beautiful surroundings. For those hammer heads who still want more miles, we have you covered and can add miles to each day to suit your desires.

Additional Riding Options: After the tour is over everyone is welcome to return to Bend (those who carpooled with us have no choice, the van will be returning to Bend Sunday night) for more riding: Cog Wild will be offering a McKenzie River Shuttle on Monday. Let us know if you are interested when you sign up.
