Smith Rock
This sport-climbing mecca has some of the most challenging mountain biking in Central Oregon. Ride 15-25 miles of singletrack on open, technical trails with steep descents and climbs. Explore classic high desert sage and juniper scenery with 360° views of the Cascade Range and Smith Rock State Park. This ride is best during the spring or fall. The trails at Smith Rock are steep and rocky, recommended for strong intermediate and advanced riders only.

A quick drive from Bend brings us out to beautiful Smith Rock State Park. Hopefully you brought your granny gear because the ride starts by climbing the dreaded Burma road. Don't get vertigo as you check out the huge cliffs of Smith Rock jutting out before you. This tour will use trails such as the Grey Butte trail, Skull Hollow, Cole Trail and Giardia Creek, the famed rocky descent where the trail and the creek are often one and the same. The landscape is mostly sagebrush and juniper trees, be on the lookout for soaring raptors looking for their next meal. At the viewpoint on Grey Butte, quiz your guides knowledge of the Cascade Mountain range. You can see them all, From Adams St. Helens and Hood to the North to Paulina Peak, Diamond Peak and Mt. Scott to the South. The ride ends with a cruise through the climbing area, hopefully you will get a chance to spot a climber dangling off the nose of Monkey Face.
$90 per person. Includes: A mountain bike tour of Smith Rock, local expert guides, local transportation to and from the tour, full lunch including Nancy P’s sandwiches, fresh fruit and cookies
